"Saltuklular"

1071-1202 AD

Salduqids is a dynasty,  ruled in north-eastern Anatolia between 1071 and 1202 AD, Erzurum as their capital.  Following the battle of Manzikert, Erzurum has been conquered by one of Alp Arslan's commanders, Ebu'l Kasim Salduq.  Essentially, it can be said, the founder of the principality is Ali who is the son of Ebu'l Kasim Salduq.  During the reign of  'Izz ad-Din Salduq II, Salduqids have experienced their most powerful period.  By this time, Bayburt, Kars, Oltu, İspir, Tercan and Trabzon area have been added to the Beylik.  In cooperation with the other neighboring Turkish rulers, 'Izz ad-Din Salduq has made successful battles against Georgians and Trebizond-rums.  In the year of 1202, during an expedition over Georgia, Seljuqs of Rum's Sultan, Sulayman Shah II has brought Salduqids to an end, by capturing Erzurum from Malikshah.
